VIRGINIA RUTH WEST APRIL 21, 1935 - ABBEYVILLE, ALABAMA MARCH 11, 1986 - HILLSBORO, OREGON
She was united in marriage to Bennie West on December 31, 1955 at Salinas, California. They celebrated their Thirty Year Wedding Anniversary this past December. While residing in Salinas she worked for the Nestles Candies Company and later as a teller in the banking industry. The family moved to Oregon, settling in Vernonia in 1974. Since moving to Vernonia Mrs. West had worked for the U.S. Banks in Vernonia and at Banks, Oregon. She also was employed by the Tektronix Corporation working in Beaverton. Among her special interests she enjoyed needlework, traveling and she loved to work in crafts. She also had a special love for making dolls. Mrs. West died Tuesday evening, March 11, 1986 at the Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro, following an extended illness with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Bennie, of the family home in Vernonia, Oregon; two sons, Thomas and Chad West, both of Vernonia, Oregon; four daughters, Mrs. Terry (Deborah) Elliott, of Vernonia, Oregon; Cheryl West, of San Francisco, California; Mrs. Jeff (Belinda) Martin, of Beaverton, Oregon; Mrs. Gayle (Pamela) Slaughter, of Vernonia, Oregon; one foster daughter, Wendy Ellis, of St. Helens, Oregon; one brother, Jesse Stinson, of Sacramento, California; and three sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Ruby) Riley, of Mobile, Alabama; Exie Clark, of Salinas, California; and Mrs. Kenneth (Nina) Kellogg, of Sacramento, California. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two foster grandchildren.
